For city vehicles - EVs are a game changer. Paired with Solar you're literally travelling for free.

leave hydrocarbons for industrial power use cases.

The advances in battery tech (e.g., CATL's fast charging batteries) should bring the refueling experience to parity with fossil fuels.

How about weight? My biggest gripe with electric vehicles is that they charge too slowly and weigh too much compared to their ICE counterparts.

I can't speak to that but assume that will take a lot longer than fast charging.

Weight may be an issue to you (and the roads) but I have to imagine most drivers don't care about that at all.

Weight also matters in shipping, no? Most shipping is run on fossil fuels. I think you're right that most drivers don't care about weight... it's a shame because it's basic physics.

It absolute matters in many areas but I was nit picking on the issue of it being a direct concern to the consumer ;-)

The elephant in the room of EVs is how to equitably pay for the roads once there's no gas tax. Fuel taxes are a reasonable mechanism today (the fuel you use, the more roads you use).
